Ruth and I have been married since 1982 and in June we will celebrate 36 years.

Since my last Bio, I have left Interstate Power/Alliant Energy as the Resource Manager after 23+ years.

In July of 2008, I went to work for an electric utility construction and maintenance company called ULC/Utility Line Construction. We build, operate and maintain substations for ITC/ International Transmission Company out of Novi, Michigan. I am an EMJ Journeyman Substation Operator/ Aluminum Welder. I am working in the Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota area in electric substations that are transmitting 60k to 345k volts.

We are still in the home we built in 1991 and just recently experienced and recovering from an extensive remodel/update that Ruth says was overdue. Both of our kids have graduated from Iowa State University. Kelly is a Forestry Major and Mitchell in Aerospace Engineering and Environmental Science. No grandkids yet. Our most recent dog is a Boxer named Lucy. She is loaded with personality and makes us laugh every day.

My hobbies now include spending quality time with Ruth and our friends, traveling, camping, projects with our kids, welding and metal working, woodworking and all forms of carpentry, rifle and pistol shooting.  I have recently completed a 5-year project of building a 1949 Chevrolet Street Rod Truck from scratch.  I’m a member of the River City Street Rods, IBEW, NRA and a Class A Licensed Electrician.

My memories of my school years are many, but at this age and point in my life what I remember most are my classmates. I still communicate with and see many, and I am looking forward to reconnecting with old friends. As the number of departed grows, I think often of those that we have lost.
